About us
আমাদের কথা
A Bengali home in Kentucky since 1988
Bengali of Kentucky is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, registered as Tri-State Durga Puja Inc., formed in 1988. We are a socio-cultural organization built on the core values of philanthropy, culture and inclusiveness.
We organize Bengali social and cultural programs for people with roots in West Bengal and Bangladesh across Kentucky, in Louisville, Lexington and beyond. That includes the annual Tri-State Durga Puja, held together with communities in Indiana and Ohio.
Our purpose is to promote Bengali cultural and educational activities, especially among second- and later-generation Bengalis, and to build friendship and cooperation among our members. We aim to complement other organizations, not compete with them.
Our mission
Three commitments
- 1
Organize and conduct cultural events that foster the rich and inclusive tradition and heritage of Indian (Bengali) culture, adding to America’s multicultural life.
- 2
Serve the needs of our local community and other communities in need through volunteer and charitable activities that address food insecurity and humanitarian issues.
- 3
Organize community outreach events and fundraisers to collect funds for charitable causes.
